Deathbed Confession
Jacob was on his deathbed. His wife, Sarah was
maintaining a vigil by his
side. She held his fragile hand and tears ran
down her face.
Her praying and sobbing roused him from his
slumber.
He looked up and his pale lips began to move slightly. "My darling Sarah," he whispered.
"Hush, my beloved Jacob... Please rest...
don't talk."
He was insistent. "Sarah..." he said in his
tired voice. "I have something I need to confess to you."
"There's nothing to confess," replied the
weeping Sarah. "Everything's all
right, go to sleep."
"No, no, I must die in peace, Sarah."
"I'm ashamed and sorry to tell you this, but in my weakness, I slept with your sister, I slept with your best friend Bertha, and to make it even worse, I slept with your dear mother."
"Oh, I know, Jacob" she replied.
"That's why I poisoned you!" |
